After the success of last year's event, we are thrilled to announce the return of Ripa International Training 2026! Once again, we invite you to join us for an unforgettable weekend filled with intense training, epic battles, and the legendary longhouse party, all set in the surroundings of Ribe Vikingecenter.
The organizers and the entirety of Ripa can’t wait to welcome you back. This year, we have space for a maximum of 125 participants, so make sure to secure your spot.
DATE: Friday 20st – Sunday 22nd of March, 2026

REGISTER AND PAYMENT:
We need to make it clear that participation is conditional upon membership of a reconized western style fighting group.
The price for this event remains the same as last year at 460 DKK/62 Euro. This price primarily covers meals throughout the weekend, provided once again by Lauritz, our caterer from last year. Based on the fantastic feedback we received, we've chosen to work with him again to ensure the same high quality.
Please note that after February 1st, tickets are non-refundable. If you wish to sell your ticket, contact us first, as there may be a waiting list.
ACCOMODATION:
We provide indoor accommodation, in the form of space in the workshops at Ribe Vikingecenter and the authentic houses on the site. If you wish to camp (authentic or not), there is plenty of room for that too. Sleeping in your vehicle is also permitted, due to demand in workshop space. Denmark in March is fairly unstable, so expect all types of weather.
It is very important that you remember to bring your own sleeping mattresses or equivalent, we do not provide beds or anything of the like, so bring what you need. If you choose to sleep in the viking house, you need to bring a cot or something similar.
Arrival on Friday late afternoon/evening is encouraged for organizational purposes, food will not be provided on friday. We will however be running a bar for Friday evening.
CATERING AND ALCOHOL:
We provide catering for both breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, you will get dinner on Saturday. The dining and bar area for Friday is located in the same building as previous years. Participants are welcome to bring their own alcohol; however, you will be able to purchase good LOCAL beer on tap both Friday and Saturday evenings.
As always, remember there will be a party in the longhouse on Saturday, where authentic attire and drinking vessels are HEAVILY recommended.
TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS:
This is a Western-style event fighting with in Sletten rules. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out. Civilian attire and footwear are allowed during the training.

Saturday:
Historical fencing style with Sletten rules - Mikkel Pauli Mønsted (ASK)
Sletten rules single combat sometimes called ”freestyle”, is not necessarily very stylish. But it allows for style choices. You can choose to fight in a way that is aligned with aspects of historical fencing while maintaining the sports and safety elements of freestyle. In this workshop you will get an introduction to the concepts I use, some tips for your training, as well as a couple of techniques. In the workshop I will focus on single combat, or one on one with sword and shield.
Your shield must be 80cm in diameter or more for the workshop to make the most sense. You can use historical style with smaller shields, but time is the limiting factor. Handaxes are also fine.
To Hunt or to Be Hunted…that is the question - Mat Severance & Mathias Leolnar (RIPA)
Honing Single- and Two-Handed Weapons while hunting during chaos phases or duels. In this dynamic, hands-on workshop, participants explore the aspect of hunting. Through guided instruction and practical drills, you will hone your skills when it comes to hunting from the perspective of a single-handed weapons or while wielding a two-handed weapon. We will explore how to navigate both sides of the encounter—how to close, weapon position, and distance management. We will train with both single-handed and two-handed weapons, examining how each changes your mobility, strategy, and decision-making.
Please bring one-handed weapons/shields and/or two-handed weapons. This workshop is mainly for beginners to intermediate, but all levels of fighters are welcome.

Eastern style fighting - Pawel Lawichi (TRIGLAV)
This Eastern Style workshop focuses on the differences between Eastern style fighting traditions and Codex Beli (western style).
The workshop combines theory with practical training, starting with warm up and 1v1 combat using short and long weapons. You will also do 5v5 bridge fights and line fighting adjusted to the number of participants.
Demands for equipment:
- Fighting helmet (minimum 2mm steel thickness recommend), or fancing mask
- Armored gloves
- Knee and forearm protectors
- Elbow protectors and protective cap covering back of the neck (optional/recommend).
All equipment will be approved on weapon check.
Fun and Games 2.0 - Sune Lorentsen (RIPA)
Expect ship raids, slave stealing, and obstacle courses.
...This workshop will be all about playful chaos!
On the feedback sheet for RIT 2025 we were asked for the return of Fun and Games with Sune. You will now get Fun and games with Sune 2.0.
With more fighters heading to Fote Fight in Sweden each year, we want to bring some of that energy to RIT. Therefore selected games in this workshop will include bows. Max 25 pound bows and rubber-tipped arrows only (Approved arrow info will follow with the sign-up)
If you’re ready to run, fight, and steal a few game ideas for your own training, join Fun and Games with Sune 2.0.
